Fundacion ONCE launches the 7th edition of Discapnet Awards for accessible technologies

Madrid, 23 January, 2023 – Fundación ONCE has launched the 7th edition of Discapnet Awards for Accessible Technologies that recognise the best initiatives and actions in the field of technologies designed to improve the lives of people with disabilities. The awards also recognise institutions, companies and organisations that have carried out a continuous work in the field of accessible technology.

The awards are divided into four categories: Category A prize will be awarded to the best available technological product or service designed to improve the lives of people with disabilities.

Category B prize will be awarded to the person, company, institution or organization with an outstanding trajectory in working to improve accessibility to technology.

Category C recognises the best business venture project with a social impact that aims to improve the lives of people with disabilities through technology.

Lastly, category D will be awarded to the most prominent media outlet in disseminating information about accessible technology-related initiatives, projects, products and services.

As in the previous edition, winners of each category will receive a cash prize. Categories A, B and D winners will receive € 5.000. Category C winner will receive € 15.000, which must be fully allocated to the development of the winning business venture.

People interested in submitting nominations in English or Spanish can do so until 23 April 2023 by filling out the form corresponding to the category selected. Forms are available in this website

Submissions will be reviewed by a jury comprising at least 7 members who will be selected by Fundación ONCE from organizations such as ONCE Social Group, CERMI and the Government of Spain that will be completed by renowned professionals with experience in the field of technologies, communication and social responsibility at both national and international levels. A Technical Commission comprising experts in ICT accessibility will assist the jury by carrying out an initial review of the submissions in accordance with the general evaluation criteria set for the projects in each category.
